The air mattress industry is one of the most competitive in the world, expected to reach more than $340 million by 2030. It’s a race to hit a sweet spot that crosses comfort, convenience and affordability. We approached this as an experience challenge: how to make an air mattress feel as supportive and luxurious as a traditional bed while staying portable and versatile.

The Perfect Solution for a Full Night’s Sleep

We began by comparing and contrasting materials and colors with build structures that were durable yet comfortable, and easy for the average consumer to assemble and disassemble. So many air mattresses in the market are made from surprisingly scratchy materials, too, so we tested fabrics and materials that mixed the perfect blend of luxury and cloud-soft feel.

While we didn’t actually sleep over at the office to test out our mattresses (we didn’t have popcorn machines and projectors set up), we did fully inflate each mattress and use heavyweight FitRx products to simulate a full night’s sleep. The result was a thoughtfully engineered air mattress line that delivers real comfort, and meets consumers wherever and however they choose to rest.

Selling a mattress is a complicated task, too. Most mattresses these days are sold online only, with consumers lacking the ability to actually test the product in-person before committing to a purchase. To meet this challenge, we showcased compelling imagery that highlights the mattress’s key features like built-in air coils and flocked siding.

Cozi now has a stronger foothold in a category where performance, pricing, and user-first thinking drives consumer loyalty. When consumers can see themselves using our products, they align based on shared values, ensuring a long-term relationship and brand loyalty.
